December 2011 Temple Activities
Myosenji Temple’s December calendar of activities is now available. While we wait for the final construction and restoration work to be completed to our Temple in Silver Spring, we will be meeting on Sundays at the Glenmont Park Activity Building in Wheaton, MD. Dates, times and location address can be found on our Google calendar or on the schedule which you can print or download here.
Myosenji Restoration Project
Various contractors are busy working at Myosenji Temple now. Electricians have worked almost everyday in the past month installing new wires that were damaged by soot and mold. We received most of the new lighting fixtures so they will be ready for installation once the walls are up. Fire alarm and smoke detector system, both of which the temple did not have before, were installed, with the up-to-date system available. Security and surveillance system wiring is almost complete. HVAC technicians have been working and are ready to fire up the new heating unit for the main temple building in the preparation for the cold season ahead.
With the retrieval of permits from Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, the contractor started digging on and off the temple ground to run a new, bigger water line. Just a day or two before Thanksgiving, in the midst of cold November rain, the workers tapped onto the water main on Brunett St. From the size of plumbing fixtures, the temple may have a very good water pressure from now on.
Also just before Thanksgiving, the glass company took down the old wooden front door and installed new glass doors. We now have two double doors to the temple entrance that will ease both the noise from the traffic on University and the heat/cold to the temple lobby. The glass also allows more light into the building as well.
Let us all continue our prayers for a safe and successful completion of Myosenji Restoration Project.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. We hope to see you at Myosenji Temple soon.
